Easy tweaks to contain hair fall

First things first, don’t constantly fret over it. Stress is one of the most common reasons for hair fall, and if you’re going to throw a fit every time you hold a few fallen strands in your palm, it’s not going to do your condition any good. Unless you’re losing hair abnormally, here are a few tweaks that will surely help.

Style smart – Yes, those curls look dreamy, the top-knots look classy, and the new platinum ice is the hair colour everyone is raving about; but all that heat, strain on the strands, and chemicals can really damage your hair. We aren’t saying give up all those style hacks you learned, but play it smart. Next time when you’re learning a new hairstyle, opt for one that doesn’t involve you tugging at your hair follicles for instance. In addition, opt for hair colours that don’t require you to bleach your hair completely. You’ll also look more yourself, just saying.

Clean your combs – It is plain hygienic, to start with. But unfortunately, though we may be very particular about cleaning our makeup brushes, the hair brushes don’t get the same attention. Combs tend to accumulate oil, dirt, and grime over time. Dilute some shampoo in water and let your combs and brushes soak in it for a while before washing off. Doing this also prevents infections on the scalp which can further aggravate hair fall.

Take supplements – Your hair also has nutritional requirements, and they’re unique in their own way. Vitamin B, vitamin B-6, vitamin C with bioflavonoid, and vitamin E all come in the form of capsules you can just pop. Nettle and flaxseed are also very good for hair growth. Include just one tablespoon of flaxseed oil in your daily intake or merely sprinkle some flaxseeds on your salad.

Don’t leave it unattended – If you love your hair like your baby, treat it like one. Don’t leave it unkempt. If you have long hair, instead of leaving it open every day, plait it neatly. You can even try different braid-styles. While swimming, wear a swim cap to protect your hair against the chlorinated water.
Fit a filter – Hard water has an infamous link to hair fall. If you feel the hard water is to blame for your hair loss, there’s an inexpensive way to fix that. Simply cap a filter to your shower head – it’ll help maintain the pH balance of water.

Oil massage – Make it feel like a spa therapy at home. Pick your favourite essential oil for your hair and mix it with almond, coconut or olive oil. Massage your scalp gently (or have someone do it for you) and smear all the way down to the tips. While massaging the scalp helps to improve blood circulation, ensuring it reaches all the way to the end will condition your tresses simultaneously too. Throw in a pretty shower cap and get on with your day’s work (indoors, of course) before washing it off after a few hours. Do this once or twice a week and you’re bound to notice healthier tresses.
