Muscat: Wilayat Muttrah will be completely isolated from Wednesday until further notice, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced.
According to the ROP, the isolation is required to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
In a statement, the ROP said, "In the context of the efforts made by the Royal Oman Police in coordination with the concerned authorities to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus, traffic was blocked from the roads leading to the wilayat of Muttrah (Ruwi, Hamriyu, Wadi Al Kabir and parts of Darsit).
"We will facilitate the entry of trucks, logistics goods, basic state and medical services such as fuel and sanitation. However, we will prevent entry or exit from these areas and residents must adhere to quarantine and avoid leaving their homes except when necessary to purchase the necessary needs or go to the hospital," Major Muhammad Al Hashami said.
