Mechanism to deal with relief and shelter begins

Muscat: Dr Yahya bin Badr al-Ma'awali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, Head of the Relief and Shelter Sector, affirmed that the Covid-19 Supreme Committee has begun, in coordination with members of the sector, working on the mechanism to deal with this situation, after the committee's decisions to activate the relief and shelter sector.
He said that this case has a specialised dimension, so it was agreed that the medical response sector is the one that unites medical, technical and health work. It was also agreed on the mechanism of field work.
As for the sheltering places chosen by the sector, he said, "More than 23 places have been provided in the Governorate of Muscat and the rest of the Sultanate, which are hotels of various grades. 2016 persons have been sheltered and waiting for other numbers of students studying abroad. These cases will be dealt with according to mechanisms determined by the medical response sector.”
In response to a question about volunteers in the field of relief and shelter, he confirmed that coordination with the competent authorities was to establish a database. 5000 volunteers were registered, 320 of them are from medical and nursing specialties who are ready to start the work ,in addition to initiatives from the scouting sector as they have been distributed to various shelters in the Sultanate.
