Coronavirus: Tax Authority announces measures for Oman

Muscat: The Tax Authority has announced a package of measures to deal with the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

These will help those subject to taxation to facilitate their obligations and spare them the penalties stipulated in law.

Measures announced include exemption from penalties and fines for not submitting declarations on time and for paying taxes specified within a maximum period of three months from its due date.

It is also now permissible to pay taxes in installments and such payments are exempt from the additional penalities, in cases where it is proven that payments were affected due to COVID-19.

Donations given for the fight against the coronavirus, are eligible for deductions from taxable income for the year 2020.
