BankDhofar contributes OMR1 million towards combating COVID-19

Muscat: Demonstrating solidarity with the national efforts exerted to combat the pandemic of COVID-19, the Board of Directors of BankDhofar announced the contribution of OMR1 million in support of the health services fighting the spread of the novel coronavirus in Oman. Earlier, BankDhofar had worked with the Ministry of Health to open a bank account dedicated to supporting the cause, encouraging customers and the general public to donate and contribute to fighting the spread of the disease.
On the initiative, Abdul Hakeem Omar Al Ojaili, CEO of BankDhofar said, “COVID-19 pandemic has affected individuals and businesses around the world. The virus is widely and rapidly spreading, and it requires huge collaborative efforts to manage the spread and minimize the impact of the disease. Being one of the leading banks in the Sultanate, it is our responsibility to be part of this national cohesion and to support the health services in such an unprecedented situation. Within the same context, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the COVID-19 Supreme Committee, Ministry of Health and those working in the medical sector for their strenuous efforts to fight the spread of the disease in Oman. I would like to also thank BankDhofar’s management and staff of the bank, who have been working constantly and tirelessly to ensure that our business is not disrupted and that our customers are being served, catered to and looked after during this extraordinary time."
The donated amount will be deposited to the ministry of Health’s account, which was opened following the instructions of the COVID-19 Supreme Committee to establish a fund to support the health services system. This initiative highlights BankDhofar’s leading role in lending a hand to various social and economic causes. The bank provided support during previous cyclones that hit the Sultanate, including OMR1 million for Cyclone Gonu and OMR1 million for Cyclone Mekunu. Both cyclones caused drastic damages to the infrastructure and affected families. BankDhofar continues to deliver on its commitment by launching various strategic sustainable CSR initiatives, ensuring sustainable benefit and on-going development, while simultaneously strengthening its ties with the local community.
