Salalah port issues clarification on cruise ships in Oman

Muscat: The Salalah Port authorities have issued on Thursday a clarification on certain posts circulating in social media regarding cruise ships.

The statement said, “The Port of Salalah would like to clarify about two cruise ships that docked today (Thursday) at the port. First: As for the cruise ship, Costa Victoria, it is coming from Muscat and the last 10 ports it had docked at were checked with the necessary procedures by the health authorities. According to the precautionary measures adopted by the concerned authorities, it is confirmed that the crew and passengers are free from any symptoms of COVID-19.”

The statement added, “Second: The World Dreams cruise ship does not have any tourists on board and visited the port of Salalah only to refuel and leave for its next destination.”

“In this context, we would like to assure everyone that all ships coming to the port are dealt with and all necessary measures are in place by the relevant authorities that have joint permanent working teams working in high coordination with our stakeholders, whose mission is to ensure that the crews and passengers of any ship are free of any symptoms of COVID-19.”
