Over 160 street vendor licences issued during 2019 in Oman

Muscat: Over 160 street vendors were registered with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry last year, according to official data.
“The number of activities of the street vendors registered in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry between the beginning of January to the end of December 2019 was 164,” the Investor Services Centre of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said.
Of these 32 were of beverages and drinks (soft drinks and hot drinks), 110 of barbecuing stores (Al Mashakik), 14 of the sale of fresh fruits, vegetables and dates, one retail of silver and gift items, one of honey, and two of perfumes, cosmetics, soaps, ornaments and incense and four of selling maize.
Those who want to obtain street vendor licence as defined by the law can apply through the electronic portal ‘Invest Easy’ and choose a service of creating a new commercial registry to become legal street vendors, said the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
This service makes it easy for the citizens to get these licences. This also regulates the works of the street vendors, guarantees them their rights, prevents expatriates from practicing this work, guarantees health and safety of the consumers through its rules and regulations to be abided by the vendors as well as health and safety of the vehicles and equipment used in it.
