Oman’s beauty to feature in Sami Yusuf's new album

Muscat: British singer-songwriter Sami Yusuf’s upcoming music video will feature the natural beauty and authentic landscapes of the Sultanate.
Yusuf, who shot to fame with his debut album - Al-Muallim, was in Oman last week for shooting, which was organised by the Ministry of Tourism to promote the Sultanate through his music video.
He spent a couple of days exploring the many diverse attractions in Oman from wandering through the timeless souq in Nizwa, shooting in the majestic Hajar Mountains in Al Jabal Al Akhdar, before heading to the vast desert in Bidiya and finally ending the trip with Ras Al Jinz and Sur.
According to Sami Yusuf, this musical project is very dear to him as it concerns the environment and its protection.
Speaking about coming to Oman to shoot the video, Sami Yusuf said, “As a lover of nature, tradition and the environment, it has always been a dream of mine to work on a project that incorporates all those subjects in a music video. I would like to thank Oman’s Ministry of Tourism for giving me the opportunity to carry out this dream.
“As we witness the unbelievable destruction of nature all around us—the like of which our forefathers could never have imagined—it is our collective responsibility to address and confront the causes head-on before it is too late,” he said.
“Nature was to primordial man what the Holy Scriptures is for Muslims, Christians or Jews. In traditional times, nature was considered sacred and not merely an ‘it’ to be dominated as is the case in modern times. It is my hope that through this initiative we remind people of the celestial beauty and sanctity of nature,” he added.
“To this effect, Oman is a beacon of hope for the world as it strives to preserve its natural beauty (the likes of which I have never seen before) and to aim for an eco-friendly approach and lifestyle which is to be applauded. It has been an honour for me to have worked in this noble project and I am positive people will love what they see when it is launched,” he continued.
