Coronavirus: First case in Qatar

Muscat: Qatar's Ministry of Public Health has confirmed the first case of COVID-19 on February 29, 2020, in the country.

This was reported on the official twitter handle of the Qatar News Agency (QNA).

According to the QNA, the Ministry said that the patient is a 36-year-old Qatari male who returned recently from Iran. He was evacuated out of the country on a government-chartered plane and along with all other passengers has been under full quarantine.

They also added that the Ministry said that the patient has been admitted to the Communicable Disease Center (CDC) and isolated under strict infection control measures, adding that he is in a stable condition.

The ministry began examining all persons closely related to the patient and implementing appropriate quarantine measures, the QNA reported.

They added that there is currently no evidence of the spread of the virus in the country.
