Locust swarm brought under control in some parts of Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, in cooperation with Muscat Municipality, has controlled locusts at some locations in Muscat Governorate.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, “The ministry followed the locust swarm in transit yesterday evening, they landed in some areas of Muscat (Bawshar, Al Khuwair, and Qurum) for rest and this is usually accompanied by laying eggs because they are of a mature age.”

“Where immediately after receiving the news, the ministry monitored and followed up the swarms in those locations, provided chemical pesticides and coordinated with the Muscat Municipality to control these locusts. Also, the control of large areas and numbers of locusts was completed today under the supervision of specialists,” they added.

The ministry said that this was a swarm of locusts in transit during this period.
