Muscat: Ahmed Al Falahi and Sally Hart emerged champions at the ‘Mini Qurm Island Swim’.
The 3.2km competition, successfully organised by Oman Triathlon Team, attracted a total of 45 participants.
While Al Falahi won both the overall and the men’s title, Sally Hart emerged the winner of women’s race.
Al Falahi covered the distance in 55 minutes and 20 seconds for his twin titles. Vincent Penny timed 56:14 to finish second overall as well as in the men’s category.
Paul Foreman settled for third place overall and men’s category in a time of 57:04.
Sally Hart clocked 1:04:27 to take top honours in the women’s category and her timing was good enough to see her finish in the seventh place overall.
Meanwhile, Jo Charters (1:10:35) and Holly Salt (1:11:36) won the second and third places respectively in the women’s category.
Oman Triathlon Team member Suleiman Al Alawi, who narrowly missed out on top three place both in the overall and men’s category after clocking 57:40, thanked the all the volunteers for the success of the event.
Suleiman, who previously represented Oman at various regional and international triathlon competitions, revealed Oman Triathlon Team’s plan to organise the next edition of the ‘Mini Qurm Island Swim’ later this year.
Speaking about Oman Triathlon Team’s next competition, he said: “Our next competition is scheduled for June 3 and it will be an aquathon, which includes swim and run sections.”
The event will start at 6.30 am on June 3 at Costa Coffee shop at Qurm beach near Intercontinental Hotel.
There will be two competitions -- a short one with a 400m swim and 3km run and a long one with 800m swim and 5km run. Entry fee is OMR 2.
