Muscat: A mobile application (app) that features the biography, speeches and multimedia about His Majesty Sultan Qaboos has bagged the first prize in the category of Advertising and Media at Oman Tech Awards 2016. The app, developed and designed by Omani twins Faris and Al Harith Al Juma, includes dua (prayers) for His Majesty and Oman, poems, music and news. It also archives all speeches of His Majesty from 1970 until now. **media[402087]** “We were not expecting any awards, because when we first launched the application in 2013 there were no competitions or awards in Oman. Even after our latest update, we did not know anything about this competition,” said Faris Al Juma. Al Juma brothers said that they are currently working to add new features to the application, and also creating an android version, so more people would have access to the application. Being an annual event; Oman Tech Awards was hosted with the focal intend of realising the grand vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said of transforming Oman into a sustainable knowledge based economy and setting an economic vision towards 2020 of developing the Omani digital society and an e-government system to simplify processes, adopt technology in its daily operations and focus on electronic delivery of services.
