Oman's share index closes marginally higher

MSM30 index closed at 4,075.83 up by 0.06 per cent. The Sharia Index closed down by 0.02 per cent at 547.58. Oman National Engineering, up 8.70 per cent, was the top gainer while National Life & General Insurance down 2.60 per cent, was the top loser. Sohar International Bank was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 230 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.6 million with more than 9.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 24 traded stocks, 3 advanced, 6 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net sellers for OMR672,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR88,000 while GCC & Arab Investors were net buyers for OMR760,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,492.68 points, up 0.05 per cent. Bank Nizwa was the only gainer in the sector and was up by 2.08 per cent to close at OMR0.098. National Life & General Insurance, Muscat Finance, Al Omaniya Financial Services and Vision Insurance declined by 2.6 per cent, 1.75 per cent, 0.97 per cent and 0.92 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,389.77 points, down by 0.08 per cent. Oman Fisheries and Jazeera Steel Products increased by 3.80 per cent and 2.36 per cent respectively. Oman Cement, Raysut Cement, Voltamp Energy and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles declined by 1.67 per cent, 1.65 per cent, 0.70 per cent and 0.61 per cent respectively.
Services index closed down 0.17 per cent at 1,934.60 points. Oman National Engineering and Oreedoo Oman increased by 8.70 per cent and 0.79 per cent respectively. Jazeera Services, OIFC and Pheonix Power declined by 1.79 per cent, 1.64 per cent and 1.43 per cent respectively.
