Muscat: There will be cold weather and clear to partly cloudy skies over most of Oman, according to the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA).

In its weather forecast for Monday, PACA said, “Cold weather and clear to partly cloudy skies over most of Oman and chances of late night to early morning low level clouds or fog over parts of Al Wusta, Al Dhahirah and north Al Sharqiyah governorates. Chance of dust rising over desert and open areas.”

PACA also alerted of reduced horizontal visibility during dust and fog formation and rough sea conditions along coastal areas of Musandam governorate and Oman Sea.

"Significant decrease in temperatures coinciding with the activity of the northwest wind over most of the governorates of Oman, may lead to frost formation in mountainous areas (low temperatures below zero degrees celsius) with the possibility of snowfall at high mountainous areas."

"The temperatures in Muscat Governorate and Salalah will be between 23 degrees and 15 degrees and the highest temperature expected today is 25 degrees in Al Mudaibi, Sur and Masirah. The lowest is two degrees below zero in Jabal Shams."

On Monday morning, water pools at Jabal Shams froze as the temperature dropped below zero degrees.
