Muscat: The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre seeks to promote economic diversification and put the Sultanate as the most important destination for events in the world.
The centre hosted in 2019 more than 230 different activities with an increase in the percentage of reservations by 36 percent compared to 2018.
800,000 visitors
The centre has succeeded in receiving more than 800,000 visitors from more than 100 different nationalities around the world in exhibition halls amounting to more than 105,000 square metres.
Eng. Said bin Salim Al Shanfari, CEO of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, said that the centre has become a contributor to strengthening the national economy, noting that the centre continues to support the Sultanate’s agenda to enhance economic diversification and improve the mechanisms of achieving sustainability by promoting them globally and facilitating the movement of tourism locally and internationally.
He added that in 2019, the centre hosted about 13 live events and 27 international conferences, which reflects the vision of ‘Omran’ as an active executive factor to advance the tourism sector, develop the City of Irfan Project and make the Sultanate as a centre for business tourism to enhance the national economy and attract local talent and its development.
