Oman's share index closes marginally lower

MSM30 index closed at 3,992.88 down by 0.30 per cent. The Sharia index closed down by 0.11 per cent at 539.04. Musandam Power, up 0.66 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Anwar Holding down 4.55 per cent, was the top loser. Al Madina Takaful was the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 214 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.41 million with more than 2.46 million shares changing hands. Out of 32 traded stocks, 1 advanced, 15 declined and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR135,000 while local investors were net sellers for OMR73,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR62,000 worth of shares.
Financial index closed at 6,365.62 points, down 0.47 per cent. No gainers from the financial sector. Al Anwar Holding, Muscat Finance, Gulf Investment, Al Omaniya Financial and Al Madina Takaful were down by 4.55 per cent, 3.51 per cent, 2.86 per cent, 1.96 per cent and 1.23 per cent respectively.
Industrial index closed at 4,288.69 points, down by 0.25 per cent. No gainers from the Industrial sector. Galfar Engineering and Oman fisheries were down by 2.82 per cent and 1.25 per cent respectively.
Services index closed down 1.16 per cent at 1,921.96 points. Musandam Power was up by 0.66 per cent. Al Batinah Power, OIFC, National Gas, Al suwadi Power and Omantel were down by 3.28 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 1.64 per cent and 0.66 per cent respectively.
