35 per cent of Omanis play electronic games

Muscat: A survey/opinion poll conducted by the National Centre for Statistics and Information showed that 35 per cent of Omanis play electronic games.
It also showed that 68 per cent of Omani families have tablets or ipads and the playstation is the most common among Omani families with 59 per cent having it while XBox is used by 7 per cent.
The survey also showed that mobile phone was the most common used for electronic games (82 per cent ), followed by playstation (39 per cent ) and tablets (8 per cent).
The survey was conducted between September 22 to 30 on a sample of 1,501 Omani citizens aged 18 and above.
According to the survey, males took a lead over females in playing electronic games as they constituted 28 per cent compared to females 16 per cent.
Over 51 per cent of males who play electronic games use playsations while females use mobile phones and tablets much more than males.
According to the survey, electronic sports games such as the FIFA game attracted 36 per cent of Omanis followed by internet games (such as fortnite game) at 35 per cent and strategic games at 30 per cent.
Omanis aged over 18 years spend an average of 87 minutes a day playing electronic games (94 minutes spent by males against 71 minutes spent by females).
Omani children play electronic games for an average of 40 minutes a day which increase to 173 minutes a day during the summer holidays.
