Oman's share index closes marginally higher

Muscat: MSM30 index closed at 3,954.13 up by 1.63 per cent. The Sharia index closed up by 0.56 per cent at 538.11. Al Hassan Engineering, up 19.05 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman Cable down 3.23 per cent, was the top loser. OIFC was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as turnover.
A total number of 768 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.6 million with more than 16.38 million shares changing hands. Out of 47 traded stocks, 27 advanced, 7 declined and 13 remained unchanged. At the session close, Local investors were net sellers for OMR437,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR240,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR197,000 worth of shares.
Financial index closed at 6,270.29 points, up 2.03 per cent. Oman & Emirates Investment, Bank Dhofar, Ahlia Insurance, Sohar International Bank and Al Omaniya Financial were up by 5.0 per cent, 4.36 per cent, 4.32 per cent, 3.81 per cent and 3.16 per cent respectively. Muscat Finance was down by 1.92 per cent.
Industrial index closed at 4,269.25 points, up by 1.20 per cent. Al Hassan Engineering, Oman Chlorine, Al Anwar Ceramic, Raysut Cement and Oman Cement were up by 19.05 per cent, 7.36 per cent, 3.85 per cent, 2.33 per cent and 2.17 per cent respectively. Oman Cable, Al Maha Ceramics and Al Jazeera Steel were down by 3.23 per cent, 3.06 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively.
Services index closed down 0.04 per cent at 1,880.98 points. OIFC, Al Batinah Power, Sharqiyah Desalination, Al Jazeera Service and Renaissance Service were up by 1.85 per cent, 1.69 per cent, 1.53 per cent, 1.33 per cent and 1.00 per cent respectively. Al Maha Petroleum, Phoenix Power and Muscat City were down by 2.67 per cent, 1.49 per cent and 0.97 per cent respectively.
