Special play area in Al Rustaq Park for children with disabilities

Muscat: Al Rustaq municipality creates a special play area for people with disabilities in Al Rustaq Public Park.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources said, “The General Directorate of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources in South Al Batinah Governorate represented by Al Rustaq Municipality has created a play area for children with disabilities in Al Rustaq Public Park.”
This project targets children with all types of disabilities and children on the autism spectrum. Healthy children can also use these games to achieve social inclusion.

The Ministry confirmed, “It also targets children with disabilities who go to this park from the various villages and wilayats of the governorate, in order to create a recreational environment for children with disabilities, enhance their citizenship values, a sense of equality with other children, and increase community awareness of the issues of children with disabilities. It will also encourage families of this group to move out of the home into public space.”
The Ministry explained that, “This project of an outdoor play area for children with disabilities includes a group of special skill, entertainment and visual games that suit this category of society. The corner also includes a number of umbrellas and wheelchairs for this category, a first aid box and a mini library.”
The Ministry also provided a number of educational regulations in Braille letters for the visually impaired. The Ministry has also worked to prepare a number of park paths, parking lots and entrances to be accessible for this category of society.
