Building materials worth OMR56 million sold in Oman

Muscat: The Sultanate's production of building materials at the end of 2018 reached 40.19 million metric tonnes, with about 35.11 million metric tonnes worth OMR56.35 million being sold, according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The Sultanate's metal sales increased by 5.8 per cent to reach OMR78.59 million for 22.75 million metric tonnes at the end of 2018, compared to OMR74.27 million for 20.47 million metric tonnes at the end of 2017.
The statistical data also showed that the Sultanate's total mineral production reached 26.39 million metric tonnes at the end of 2018, compared to 29.96 million metric tonnes at the end of 2017.
The Sultanate's production of marble at the end of 2018 reached about 1.23 million metric tons with a sale value of OMR10.75 million, while limestone production reached 13.93 million metric tonnes, with 10.08 million metric tonnes sold at a value of OMR15.76 million.
The country's production of gypsum amounted to 9.08 million, while the country sold about 9.40 million metric tonnes of gypsum worth OMR21.94 million.
The Sultanate's production of salt reached 11,537, with about 13,175 metric tonnes sold, worth OMR461,125.
The Sultanate's production of chromium was 687,722 metric tonnes, and the quantity sold was 635,121 metric tonnes, valued at OMR24.1 million. The production of Laterite reached 536,664 metric tonnes, and the quantity sold was 497,002 metric tonnes, worth OMR1.32 million.
Oman’s production of mud to 459,587 metric tonnes and the quantity sold was 472,287 metric tonnes, worth OMR 2.22 million.
The production of sand dunes from Oman reached 23,854 metric tonnes, while the quantity sold reached 23,489 metric tonnes, valued at OMR58,722. The country's production of quartz reached 265,051 metric tonnes, and the quantity sold was 267,662 metric tonnes, valued at OMR1.07 million. The Sultanate's production of kaolin reached 101,100 metric tonnes, and the quantity sold was 103,703 metric tonnes, at a value of OMR311,109.
Manganese production reached 36,082 metric tonnes, with the quantity sold reaching 33,482 metric tonnes, valued at OMR247,328, while the production of silica was 21,000 metric tonnes, with the quantity sold reaching 22,965 metric tonnes, worth OMR284,766.
