be'ah launches 20 sites to receive construction and demolition waste in Oman

Muscat: The Oman Environmental Service Holding Company (be’ah) has launched 20 sites to receive Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste in all governorates of the Sultanate.

“be’ah’s vision is to protect the environment of Oman. People should look at this waste (C&D) as something of value and quality, and reusable,” said Eng Salim bin Rashid Al-Sheedi, Head of Assets and Special Waste Department at be'ah.

As be’ah aims to recycle green waste, it has launched three machines to shred 40 tons of waste per hour and between 300 to 400 expired tires per hour in order to recycle them and extract raw materials from them.

“The company has decided to launch an advertising campaign to inform the citizens and the residents about these efforts in order to create a partnership between the company and different categories of society to dump waste at specific sites. Citizens and residents will be targeted through social and mass media.” Al Sheedi added.
