Rise in HIV cases in Oman

Muscat: HIV rates have increased by over 5 percent in 2018 in Oman, according to National Center for Statistics and Information.

A total of 2,927 cases were registered with the ministry, in which 1,866 cases were from the age group of 25 to 49.

“There is an increase of 5.2% AIDS cases in 2018 compared to 2017. The distribution of cases by age group was as follows; 0 to 4 years are 69 cases, 5 to 14 years are 120 cases, from 15 to 24 years reached to 543 cases, from 25 to 49 reached 1866 and the age of 50 and above amounted to 329 cases,” NCSI added.
