With many people visiting the Dhofar region for its cool winds and stunning green landscape during the Khareef season, Rakhyut is a place they should definitely see while in Oman’s southern governorate. The Wilayat of Rakhyut is located in the western part of the Governorate of Dhofar. “It is one of the major tourist attractions in the Sultanate. A destination frequented by many tourists, due to its historical legacy, geographical and environmental diversity, Rakhyut is placed in the heart of the tourist map. Oman’s Ministry of Tourism adds, “Although Dhofar lies over 1,000 kilometres from the capital city of Muscat, planning a trip is easy with daily flights between Muscat and Salalah and direct connections from other Arab Gulf states. Those with some spare time may also opt to drive the coastal road to Salalah, traversing through Al Wusta and seeing some of Oman’s most remote yet breathtaking beaches. “In the summer months, when most of the Arabian Peninsula experiences soaring temperatures, Dhofar ushers in the monsoon season, bringing with it lush greenery, cooling rains and pleasant temperatures.”
