At least 330,000 children are held in detention because of migration issues worldwide, and the United States alone is responsible for nearly one-third of the number.
This was revealed by the UN-linked human rights lawyer Manfred Nowak.
According to his team's findings, the US currently has some 103,000 children in detention, which includes unaccompanied minors.
This includes those detained together with their families, and those who have been separated from their relatives.
