Muscat: The second Al Araimi Boulevard Chess Championship took place on November 16 at the wonderfully designed Al Araimi Boulevard in Al Khoud. The championship was organised by the International Chess Academy of Oman in cooperation with the Oman Chess Committee and the newly opened Limitless Centre for kid’s development. The centre provide chess classes and other activities for kids in Al Seeb Area.
The tournament witnessed the participation of 51 players representing eight countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, England, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman and the Philippines players took part in the competition.
Emerson Napone showed no mercy and won the competition with a perfect score of 7/7 points.
The unrated player Mohammed Al Amine El Shaarawy from Egypt surprised everyone and took the second prize by scoring 6 out 7 possible points. The third prize was taken by Omani talent Abdulrahman Al Zadjali who is a member of the Oman Youth National Team with 5.5/7 points.
