Muscat: Oman's Under-18 national team succeeded in achieving its first win in the Gulf Tennis Team Championship which is currently being held in the Kingdom of Bahrain with the participation of all six Gulf teams in this tournament.
The Under-18 team consisting of Muneer Al Rawahi and Azzan Al Hajri won over the host team Bahrain with a score of 2-1. The first match played was between Muneer Al Rawahi and Mohamed Al Khan where Muneer won with a score of 6/1 6/0.
While in the second singles, Azzan Al Hajri lost against Ali Al Sharif with a score of 2/6 6/2 6/1 and the deciding match was played by both of the players where they won the doubles match with a score of 6/4 6/1.
In the under 14 category consisting of players Marwan Al Khanjari, Isa Al Suleimani and Ali Al Busaidi lost against the Saudi team with a score of 1-2. The first match was played by Marwan Al Khanjari where he won the Saudi player Bader Idris with a score of 7/6 7/5.
The the Second match Ali Al Busaidi lost against Abdul latif Al Mabrzi 6/2 6/2 and the deciding match was played by Isa Al Sulemani And Marwan Al Khanjari where they faced Bader Idris and Abdul latif Al Mabzri losing with a score of 3/6 6/4 7/6. The under 14 is hoping to compensate for their loss in the upcoming rounds however, the under 18 team is seeking to continue its momentum as the team is holding a good position in the draw.
According to the Chairman of the Technical Committee, Salman Al Balushi, the tournament has come to a successful start and what makes it a great tournament is the participation of all the gulf teams as a beautiful gathering bringing together all the brothers of the GCC countries.
He also added that the organizing committee has completed its preparation and cooperation with the organizing committee of the championship of the Bahrain Tennis Federation to start this tournament well and all the equipment is provided to the Bahrain Tennis Federation.
