Muscat: Within fifty hours, a volunteer team distributed 340 seedlings and collected 181 bags of waste from Al Ashkhara Beach in South Eastern Province.
The initiative was conducted by the Sawarah team from the Child Welfare Centre in Al Khoudh, with the participation of 28 children from the center.
Ahmed Al Hosni, a photographer and the team founder said: “The team is implementing a 50-hour environmental initiative for the second year in a row where the team is visiting and cleaning a beach in the Sultanate."
This year's edition included education, afforestation and cleaning activities, where the team was promoting the place and distributed 340 seedlings to schools and the people of the region.
"The team visited schools with a team from the Ministry of Agriculture and a workshop was held on the importance of tree planting and a number of seedlings were distributed in the school with the participation of students," Al Hosni added.
He explained: "The people of the area were very interested and welcoming of the initiative and participated in the clean-up where 181 bags of waste were collected from Ashkhara beach within a distance of two kilometers and the team's children are very happy to participate in such initiatives."
