Muscat: The weather analysis at the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre has indicated that a trough of low pressure located south of Iran will affect the Sultanate from November 19 to 22, the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) said.
In a statement PACA said, “The weather will be partly cloudy with chances of rain and occasional thundershower associated with fresh winds, hail and flash floods from Tuesday evening over Governorate of Musandam, extending gradually to Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dahirah, Al Dakhliliyah, Muscat, South Al Sharqiyah and North Al Sharqiyah. The weather charts also indicate relative decrease in temperature associated with the system.”
A statement by an official from PACA said, “The groove will begin its impact tomorrow, Tuesday afternoon, and continue in the evening on Musandam and then gradually on to the rest of wilayat and governorates of the Sultanate by Thursday evening.”
“This groove is an extension of the depression in the south of Iran and the clouds will be heavy with a chance of thunderstorm with hailstorms,”an official added.
He said, “A report will be published every 48 hours, calling on citizens and residents to follow the developments of the weather situation from its source and not to go behind rumours. Fishermen must know the state of the sea and the weather before going out fishing.”
“The weather will be moderate to rough along the coastal areas of Oman Sea with the wave height ranging between 2.5 to 1.5 metres, while it will be moderate along the rest of the coast with wave height ranging between 1.5 to 2.0 metres,” PACA added.
