Fifth edition of Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship moves to Sur

Muscat: The second round of the fifth edition of the Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship moved to Sur in the Al Sharqiyah South Governorate. The opening ceremony of the matches at Al Sharqiyah South Governorate was attended by officials from The Zubair Corporation, officials from Oman Handball Association and a number of senior executives from Z-Corp and Zubair Automotive Group.

The Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship is being organised by Mitsubishi Oman, represented by General Automotive Company, in association with the Oman Handball Association (OHA). General Automotive Company, which is the official distributor for Mitsubishi vehicles in Oman is a subsidiary of the Zubair Automotive Group, the flagship enterprise of the Z-Corp.

The schools from Al Sharqiyah South Governorate which participated included Balarab bin Hamer School, Iqra School Al Sultan Said Bin Taymoor School and Al Baraam School.

While Balarab bin Hamer School won the first place, the second place was won by Iqra School. The third place was won by Al Sultan Said Bin Taymoor School and the fourth place went to Al Baraam School.

The matches in connection with the fifth edition of the Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship will also be held in schools Al Batinah North Governorate, Al Batinah South Governorate, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, Dhofar Governorate and Al Buraimi Governorate.

Under the framework of augmenting public and private sector partnership, The Zubair Corporation LLC (Z-Corp) and its group company General Automotive Company recently renewed a sponsorship agreement with Oman Handball Association (OHA). As part of the agreement, Z-Corp will support all the activities of Oman Handball Association this year.

The signing come within the framework of Z-Corp’s strategy and social responsibility to encourage sport performances and achievements. As a private sector player, Z-Corp is keen on realising a long-term strategy aimed at providing support for the youth to invest their energies positively in the world of sports. The group has been constantly supporting and engaging with clubs and associations which focus on young talent, while developing and strengthening local communities at the same time.

Speaking of the championships, Dr Said bin Ahmed Al Shehri, Chairman of the Oman Handball Association said, “We are thrilled with the level of the game we witnessed at Sur.

The tournament has vastly improved the game of the players. Participating in sports events teach students vital values that they can carry throughout their life, such as discipline, time management, work ethics, right attitude. We are happy that we are organising school level tournaments and encouraging students to invest their energy in sports. The championship has witnessed success due to the constant efforts and cooperation of The Zubair Corporation, Mitsubishi, Oman Handball Association, Ministry of Education and local schools.”

The Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship which was launched five years ago remains one of the most important initiatives that documents the partnership between the sports sector and Z-Corp and its subsidiary companies.
