Residential plot allotment drops in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Housing allotted a total of 17,833 residential properties across the country till the end of August 2019, compared to 23,730 plots in the same period of 2018, which is a decrease of 24.9 per cent, according to statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The Governorate of Al Dakhilyah was allotted 5,041 residential plots till the end of August, which is the highest among governorates.
This was followed by Muscat with about 2,410 properties, North Al Sharqiyah with 2,360, South Al Batinah with 1,999, South Al Sharqiyah with 1,815, and Al Buraimi with 1,162 properties allotted till the end of August 2019.
The governorates of North Al Batinah, Musandam, Al Dhahirah, and Al Wusta were allotted 1,011, 909, 458, and 380 residential properties, respectively. Dhofar was allotted 288 properties, which is the lowest among governorates.
Meanwhile, the governorates of Muscat, Musandam, Al Buraimi and North Al Batinah witnessed a phenomenal increase in the number of lands allotted till the end of August 2019 compared to the same period of 2018, whereas allotment of properties in the rest of the governorates showed a marked decline during the period of study.
The Ministry of Housing allotted a total of 36,733 residential plots in 2018.
