Oman education: SQU professor bags award for research

Muscat: Dr. Ali Al-Badi, an associate professor in the Information Systems (IS) Department at the College of Economics and Political Science (CEPS), Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), received the “Excellence in Research Award” from Clute Institute, Colorado, USA, in recognition of his research.
Dr. Ali Al-Badi is an active researcher who has published many research papers at international conferences, as well as for peer reviewed journals. In addition to publishing single or co-authored papers, Dr. Ali is well-known for his patience andcommitment in helping and empowering IS students in sharpening their research skills.
This award was in recognition ofa paper that Dr. Ali co-authored with two of his students, Elham M. Al-Mukhaini and Wafa S. Al-Qayoudhi, which has been downloaded more than any other manuscript from the Journal of International Education Research (JIER).
The paper is entitled,"The Adoption of Social Networking in Education: A Case Study of the Use of Social Networks by Higher Education Students in Oman”.
This paper also received the “Best Paper Award” when presented at the 52nd Clute Institute International Academic Conference in Paris, France, held from June 9 to 11, 2013, which was then selected to be published in peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Ali said he hopes that this award will promote research activities at the College of Economics and Political Science (CEPS) and help in enhancing the rank of Sultan Qaboos University among the world’s universities.
