Community Mall to come up at this park in Muscat

Muscat: Muscat Municipality has signed an agreement to develop, improve and maintain the Al Khuwair Park, establish a dedicated fast food outlet as well as enhance the children's play area with modern equipment and implement a commercial complex 'Community Mall'.

The deal was signed on Tuesday with Bayan Investment House to use land owned by the municipality to establish a commercial complex 'Community Mall' spread out over 3,380 square meters in Al Khuwair area in Bawshar. The implementation work of the project will start within one year from the date of signing the contract.

The investor said in a statement, "The project seeks to serve the needs of an expanding population and urbanisation, and meet the market need for commercial space in the area of Al Khuwair with an innovative urban concept. The project is an integrated commercial complex consisting of two floors with a building area of up to 6000 square meters, and the commercial complex is composed of green spaces and dining areas in open air to serve visitors to the commercial complex. The project also contains 36 commercial units spread over two floors, and a parking lot for 200 vehicles."

The agreement is based on the Royal Decree No. (38/2015) on the issuance of the Muscat Municipality Law, which stipulates in Article (5) that (the municipality is to invest its funds, and the conclusion of contracts and agreements with third parties), as well as to ensure the Muscat Municipality achieves optimal investment for their service facilities, strengthening community partnership with government and private institutions to achieve quality management and operation of facilities.
