Muscat: Young people are to be at the heart of the Muscat celebrations for the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the birth Of Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian Embassy has announced
In association with Raja Yoga Centre for Self-Development, Muscat will celebrate both Gandhi and the United Nations International Day of Non-violence at an event on 2nd October in Hotel Muscat Holiday, Al Khuwair.
A short sketch on the theme of peace and non-violence will be presented by Omani youth during the event, at which renowned global speaker, Sister B. K. Jayanti Kirpalani will give the keynote address on the theme of, ‘One Heart, One Mind, One World’.
The Embassy, in association with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and the Board of Directors - Indian Schools in Oman, will also organise a ‘Student Solar Ambassador Program’ in 17 Indian schools across Oman.
This will involve school students building solar lamps to help give them an understanding of solar energy, and to build a desire for peace, tolerance, understanding, and non-violence towards the environment.
The Embassy of India said: “ This year is special as we celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and rededicate ourselves to the values of Peace and Non-Violence. We look forward to active participation by the residents of Oman belonging to all nationalities in the above event.”
