Accident claims eight lives in Dubai

Muscat: Eight people died and six were seriously injured when a bus collided with a truck on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road in Dubai, the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services announced today morning.

The accident occurred as a 14-passenger minibus collided with a truck on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road in the lane towards Sharjah

Dubai Ambulance said in a statement, "The Executive Director of the Corporation, Khalifa Bin Dari confirmed that the ambulance teams and the Crisis and Disaster Management Team moved to the scene where they speedily treated the injured and tranferred the serious cases to the trauma center at Rashid Hospital."

"I express my deep regret over the occurrence of such accidents and I call all drivers and road users to exercise caution and adhere to the rules of traffic, avoid speeding while driving," Bin Dari added.

"Condolences to the families of the deceased and I wish all the injured a speedy recovery."
