“We started in 2003 in Saudi Arabia. became a public listed entity in 2011 and currently are the market leaders. Our turnover is about 5 billion Saudi Riyal, and Oman was the first market that we expanded to in 2013.
“Our journey has been really rewarding as we listen very carefully to our customers. At eXtra, we aim to have the largest range on the market, offer excellent customer service and at the same time have the best employees who are well informed about the products,” Galal said.

Speaking about how he sees the market in Oman, Galal said that it is not only predictable but also promising.
“The good thing about the market of Oman is that it is predictable, and this is something very difficult to have currently. Because of this stability, we in Oman have had a steady growth in the last few years. The market is very promising and relies a lot on local consumption. We are very happy with the business here,” Galal said.
He underlined the aim of eXtra to make sure they provide customers with the best of products at affordable prices.
“We give faster delivery services than all our competitors as well as having a policy called price matching. If the customer finds something cheaper than the price at eXtra, we will not only bring the price down but also give them a discount of 10 per cent of the price difference. This gives peace of mind to the customer regarding our prices and our products” Galal added.
Highlighting the company’s future and expansion plans, he said they are more focused on the success of the newly opened branch in Sohar and that they are planning to go digital where people can order and buy online.

“Of course, Sohar is the second most populated city in Oman so before opening the store, we studied the market which shows good potential. We are sure in a few years we will be the market leaders here. Therefore, before expanding, we will wait for this branch to be established and successful.
“Also, right now we are focusing on launching our online website in Oman. We know that the market is not served very well here so this would help people to purchase products more conveniently,” Galal concluded.
