SQU, Huawei sign agreement to transfer ICT technologies

Muscat: Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), represented by the College of Engineering, and Huawei Tech. Investment (Oman) signed a letter of agreement for the transfer of ICT technologies to SQU via Huawei Authorised Information and Network Academy programme (HAINA).
Based on the letter of agreement, Huawei and SQU, represented by the College of Engineering will work together to develop a cooperative a working relationship where SQU and Huawei will utilise training programmes to transfer ICT technologies to SQU via the Huawei Authorised Information and Network Academy programme (HAINA). Huawei will deliver its training and certification programmes to SQU offered through the Huawei Authorised Information and Network Academy programme (HAINA), and promote SQU as a training organisation to its students and customer the base for both HAINA based programmes and selected professional programmes.
Besides, Huawei will provide the Huawei Certification Academy Instructor (HCAI) training service for SQU professional instructors, provide the simulation tool used for HCAI certification training; along with the HCAI R&S course lab equipment for ICT academy.
The College of Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University will provide classroom and other teaching facilities to accommodate Huawei ICT equipment for HAINA programme performance and provide professional instructors to become the Huawei Certification Academy Instructors (HCAI). The college will embed the HAINA certification course in the college of engineering curricula and liaise with local networking industry to promote and deliver HAINA Network training to more populations in the ICT industry in Oman. The college will also work with Huawei to develop the training schedule that meets the students’ needs. Both parties will monitor the HAINA program and offer suggestions for continuous improvement and work cooperatively to explore other opportunities for alliances between the two organisations. They will seek to address the ICT skills requirements in the Sultanate of Oman ICT industry.
The letter of agreement was signed at SQU by Prof. Amer Ali Al-Rawas, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service at Sultan Qaboos University, and Chen Bing, CEO of Huawei Tech. Investment (Oman). The ceremony was attended by Prof. Hadj Bourdoucen, Dean of College of Engineering and Dr Mohammed Al-Badi, Head of ECE Department representing the college and Ravis Wang, VP of D&S, Masood Yang, NTD manager of D&S, Malik Hamed Al Wahebe, Director of Public Relations and Maher Al Wahidi, Director of Human Resources representing Huawei Tech. Investment (Oman).
