Protesters pushing Hong Kong into 'Very Dangerous Situation': Lam

Hong Kong: Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam warned that protesters were pushing the city into a “very dangerous situation.”

"Such extensive disruptions in the name of certain demands, or uncooperative movement, have seriously undermined Hong Kong’s law and order and are pushing our city - the city we all love and many of us helped to build - to the verge of a very dangerous situation.

"The Government will be resolute in maintaining law and order in Hong Kong and restoring confidence. We all love Hong Kong and have made different contributions to its stability and prosperity over the years. This is the time for us to rally together to set aside differences and bring back order, and say no to chaos and violence."

The comments were made as protesters across the city observed a strike. Independent media in Hong Kong reported that road blocks had been set-up as demonstrators held rallies. Reports showed some protesters facing tear-gas from riot police.
