Muscat: Whispers of Serenity Clinic announced that its mental health forum, ‘Young Minds’, will be taking place on 12 October, 2019 at the Kempinski Hotel in Muscat.
The forum is being organised under the banner of the Clinic’s #NotAlone initiative.
Founded and curated by Her Highness Sayyida Basma Al Said — also the founder of the Whispers of Serenity Clinic and the #NotAlone voluntary initiative — the forum will focus on issues linked with the mental health of children, teenagers and adolescents and will also give them a platform to express their thoughts on a variety of different topics.
Announcing the launch of the 'Young Minds' forum on Sunday, HH Al Said said: “We are extremely delighted to present this much-needed event for children and their parents. The forum aims at enhancing knowledge and awareness among the youth on a variety of topics linked with child and adolescent health. We are also giving a major platform to these youngsters to express themselves and discuss issues related to their mental and physical health and safety at an informal and friendly platform.
“Our team has put in immense efforts in making this event a possibility and we will be happy to get the support and encouragement from the public who we hope will attend and benefit from productive speeches and discussions.”
The forum is the first-of-its-kind event in the Sultanate and will include high profile guests like members of royal family, ministers, diplomats and CEOs of various organisations in the panel discussions.
The forum’s agenda is a mix of speeches, panel discussions, and workshops. The event is free to attend for children; adults will need to buy a ticket worth OMR25 to attend. Workshops will include 'bullying and positive character building', 'anger management with drums practices', 'accidental disasters', and parenting workshop – ‘How to deal with my young mind anger’ (punching bag exercise).
