Sufficient supply of livestock ahead of Eid: Ministry

Muscat: As the blessed Eid Al Adha approaches, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has confirmed that the supply of livestock will be sufficient to accommodate increased local demand.

The demand for livestock increases on the days leading up to Eid Al Adha as locals purchase cattle, sheep and camels from local markets. Some buy them from “Habta” which are held before Eid in various wilayats of the Sultanate.

In a statement, the Director of Animal Wealth at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries confirmed that the supply will be adequate, saying, "Large quantities of live animals will be available in the Sultanate before Eid Al Adha. The Ministry is constantly opening new external outlets to meet the needs of the local market by increasing supply of livestock and cattle."
