Research vital for superior quality of food products

Muscat: The Atyab Foods, one of the investments of Oman Flour Mills Company, is a subsidiary of the Oman Investment Company. Atyab factory is one of the largest food factories which supplies according to the requirements of the markets.
Nasrah bint Abdullah bin Nasir Al Marhoubi, Head of the Research and Development Department at Atyab Foods, said that the research and development department of the Atyab Foods was one of its most important departments where research is done to provide healthy food products in the Sultanate. This department helps in the development and improvement of its existing products and in producing new food items. It also plays a crucial role in maintaining a high quality of the products presented to the people in the Sultanate.
She said that the research and development department did a lot of work which helped in the improvement of the food products manufactured by the factory, which is considered top food products’ company of the Sultanate. The work of this department has helped the evolution of the industry according to the changes taking place in the world in the area. It also plays its role in presenting new products in the Omani and regional markets. It does so after a long process of developmental tests carried out to judge the quality and nutritional value of the product.
Nasrah Al Marhoubi said that the research and development department is specialised in looking for better products for the market and tries to produce items which match with the demands of the consumers. For all this, the department makes lots of efforts. This has led the factory to win ISO certification FSSC2200, 2200.
She added that Atyab was one of the largest companies in the Middle East, producing more than 300 food products, including fresh and frozen products exported outside the Sultanate.
Atyab Foods is one of the largest food factories of the Sultanate, the Gulf region and the Middle East. It produces 26,000 pieces of food items per hour. It has a large production capacity and a technical cadre with the highest level of expertise and skills. It uses the latest and most modern automatic machines, she said.
Nasrah Al Marhoubi said: The food factory-supplied its products to major international groups of restaurants such as Costa, Burger, Hardee's, Starbucks, McDonald's and others. It also exports its products to many Gulf Cooperation Council countries. This is the result of its efforts to improve the quality of the products supplied in these markets.
She said the research and development department of Atyab factory kept a track on the developments taking place in the industry, selected best raw materials for its products or looked for their alternatives. It also increases the quality of the existing products, produces and develops new products to match the tastes and demands of the markets.
