Colombo: Seven fishermen from India were apprehended by Sri Lanka's Navy for poaching in the island nation's territorial waters, state media reported.
The fishermen and their trawler were picked up by a fast gun boat attached to Sri Lanka's Northern Naval Command during a patrol conducted in area off the Thalaimannar Lighthouse.
According to state media, the fishermen were escorted to the SLNS Thammanna naval base.
They ranged in age from 18-36 years-old and are expected to be handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Mannar for further action following a medical examination.
