London: Boris Johnson has been appointed UK’s prime minister by Queen Elizabeth II. Making his first speech as PM and reiterating his campaign promise, Johnson told members of the press that Britain would leave the EU on October 31. He clarified that he tried to put pressure on Brussels to renegotiate, but he will prepare for a ’no-deal’ Brexit. He said defiantly that the UK would leave the EU and there will be "no ifs, no buts” regarding this decision. Saying that delivering Brexit by 31st October is now his personal responsibility, Johnson added: "Never-mind the backstop, the buck stops here.” "The time has come to act, to take decisions, to give strong leadership and change the country for the better,” he said, taking a potshot at predecessor Theresa May. "After three years of unfounded self doubt it is time to change the record,” he added. Boris Johnson says in preparation "for a post-Brexit future it is time we looked not at the risks, but the opportunities that are upon us"
