Muscat: Private tourism projects in Oman should be announced only after possessing proper permission from the ministry of tourism, a notice from the authority said.
“Tourism projects in Oman cannot be announced without permission of ministry of tourism and violators will be penalised,” the notice uploaded by the ministry on its official website said.
Recently, an official from the tourism ministry has also told Times of Oman that, investors should have to take necessary approvals from the ministry before initiating a project.
Last month, a tourism project in Shinas was deemed ‘fake’ by the ministry.
According to the tourism minister’s statement then, the total investment in the tourism sector stands at OMR18.9 billion (2016-2040) and the expected investment of only one ‘fake’ project announced last year by some investors amounted to $6 billion (OMR2.3 billion).
