Oman crash update: Brother’s grief over fatal sibling

These were the words of grieving Fardhan Ali, whose brother Riyaz was one of the tragic 18 who died in the horror smash at Fahud, near Ibri. Riyaz one of two Pakistanis who died who were workers at a nearby company.
“My brother Riyaz Ali was on his way to camp from Salalah,” said Fardhan Ali, who works in a camp in Karma.
Ibri hospital sources said that nine bodies have been taken to the hospital’s mortuary and five more injured are being treated, including three in ICU and two in the surgical ward.
Out of the nine fatalities, two are of Pakistanis, one is Chinese national and one is Yemen national.
According to sources, identity of other bodies are still unclear.
In a tweet, Ibri Hospital said that 22 people were rushed to the hospital following the accident. Out of 22, nine succumbed to injuries and 13 were undergoing treatment.
However, medics said that out of the 13 injured, only five are in hospital now. People with minor injuries had left the hospital, medics added.
