Muscat: A large quantity of banned cigarettes and chewing tobacco was seized by the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) in Ibra.
Oman’s consumer watchdog, in coordination with the Criminal Investigation Department, managed to nab two expats in two separate cases who were manufacturing and selling tobacco from their houses. PACP also seized various tobacco products and cash in their operation.
A statement from PACP read, “Two houses were raided in cooperation with Royal Oman Police and Public Prosecution and two suspects were arrested for selling and manufacturing tobacco. These raids resulted in the confiscation of banned cigarettes and chewing tobacco and some cash as well.”
