RAO announces recruitment drive

Muscat: Omanis who wish to enlist in the Royal Army of Oman as officers are now welcome to do so, the Ministry of Defence has announced.
Omani males aged from 18 to 23 can apply between 11 and 20 July, 2019. Citizens who are between 18 and 23 years of age and have a college diploma can apply, as can those who have a high school diploma and are between 18 and 21 years old. Applicants will be asked to go through medical, knowledge, and fitness tests before attending a personal interview.
A statement by the Morale Guidance Department of the Ministry of Defence, read: “The Royal Army of Oman is pleased to coordinate with the Public Authority for the Manpower Register to announce the opening of doors for citizens to enlist as candidates to become officers per the following condition: they must be holders of academic diplomas above that of the public education diploma in all majors.
“Applicants must have received a diploma with a grade higher than ‘C’ from higher education institutes in Oman or accredited institutions outside of Oman,” said the department, adding “they must be between 18 and 23 years old.”

Pertaining to the application rules for high school diploma holders, the Morale Guidance Department added: “Applicants with a high school diploma must apply via the following website: www.advert.pamr.gov.om, attaching a copy of their school certificate and list of grades, as well as their personal ID copy and parents’ passport copies. They must have got no less than 70 percent in their high school terms.
“Priority is given to those with higher marks,” added the Morale Guidance Department. “They must be between 18 and 21 years of age, and no older than 21 years old as of January 1, 2020.
All applicants for these positions must be male Omanis, have 6/6 vision without surgery, glasses, or correcting lenses. They must be between 165 cm and 188 cm tall and must have good conduct, never having been convicted of a felony or misdemeanour
Candidates will be required to pass all tests and a personal interview, as well as a 3200 metre physical fitness test. They must have an ideal height to weight ratio, with a body mass index of no more than 25, and they must not currently be employed in the country’s civil, security, or military branches of government. In addition, they must never have had to resign or be dismissed from any of these branches.
