Muscat: More than OMR300,000 was recovered for consumers in Wilayat Seeb in the first half of 2019, the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) announced.
Officials from PACP said that these recoveries were a result of the efforts of the Consumer Protection Dept. in Seeb to resolve complaints amicably in the first half of 2019.
Overall, OMR319,873 has been recovered from various sectors following consumer complaints.
A total of OMR25,896 was recovered from the construction sector and OMR 11,855 from the aluminum, carpentry and blacksmithing sectors.
OMR10,008 was paid back by labour service sector, and OMR8,000 by furniture stores.
The remaining refunds were recovered from sectors such as repair of vehicles, barbershops, beauty salons and other sectors supervised by the Authority.
Director of the department, Ziyad Al Wahaibi, said: “The department has dealt with all the complaints and violations and taken the necessary actions in accordance with the provisions of the consumer protection law.”
“PACP is working hard to preserve and return consumers' rights through various legal means. The consumer should continue to co-operate by reporting the violators through the various channels of the Authority,” he added.
