Emir of Qatar arrives in Pakistan on state visit

LAHORE: The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Pakistan on a two-day visit. He was welcomed at Nur Khan Airbase by Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan and was given a 21-gun salute and a flyover by a team of JF-17 Thunder jets.

Sheikh Tamim and his accompanying delegation held a meeting with their Pakistani counterparts in which both sides agreed to increase bilateral trade, expand collaboration in the agriculture and food sectors, enhance cooperation in the energy sector, and increase the number of Pakistani workers employed in Qatar among other things.

Several MoU's were signed in the presence of Khan and Qatar's ruler. They include MoU's on cooperation in the field of tourism and business events, financial intelligence,as well as the establishment of the Pakistan and Qatar Joint Working Group (JWG) on Trade and Investment.

In a special gesture, the Emir of Qatar presented Khan with a football jersey and received a cricket bat signed by Khan.
