Muscat: The number of the commercial registrations in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry reached to 5,633 in the first quarter of the year 2019 which is an increased of 1.99 per cent over 5,523 of the same period in 2018.
This increase is attributed to facilities provided by the ministry to investors.
The Department of Statistics of the Ministry said that registration of commercial entities of individuals in the first quarter of this year reached to commercial records represented 3,106 compared with 3,316 in the previous year.
The companies with limited liability registered during this period was 929 which is an increases over 913 companies registered in the same period last year. There were 500 household companies registered during the first quarter of this year compared with 419 during the same period last year.
The number if investment companies registered during this period reached to 445 which is a whopping increase over 276 companies registered during the same period last year.
There were 207 reference companies registered in the first quarter of the year 2019 compared with 212 of the same period during 2018.
In addition to this, there were 184 non-profit organisations registered during this period compared with just two during the same period last year.
There were 177 partnership companies registered during the first quarter of the year 2019 compared with 223 during the same period in the year 2018. There were 45 hawkers registered during the same period this year over 70 last year.
Similarly, there were 26 companies of the government registered during the first quarter of the year 2019 compared with just one registration during the same period last year.
There were 11 branches of international companies registered during this period in the current year compared with 13 during the same period last year.
Two commercial representation offices and one publicly help Omani company was registered during the first quarter of this year compared with five during the same period last year.
