Radisson Blu working to achieve desired Omanisation soon

Muscat: Radisson Blu’s newly launched hotel promises to provide job opportunities in a time of austerity and aims to encourage Omanisation going forward.
On the sidelines of a press conference organised by the Radisson Blu Hotel, Sohar after its official launch on Sunday, Abdullah Al Nabri, chairman of Radisson Blu, said the number of Omani employees will rise.
“We had been coordinating with the Ministry of Manpower in Sohar on the Omanisation plan for this property and received an approval for the Omanisation plan for recruiting a number of Omanis,” said Al Nabri.
“We have 145 staff members: both Omanis and expatriates. Depending on occupancy and demand, this number will grow to between 180 and 200,” he added.
Currently, 35 Omanis are employed at the Radisson Blu, Sohar and Al Nabri said the number “will grow very soon” to reach the Omanisation rate they have agreed upon with the ministry.
“We aim to grow Omanisation as much as possible,” Al Nabri said.
Well-timed launch
With Sohar going through development and growth, the 25,200 square metre hotel has come at the right time to accommodate businessmen and investors visiting the industrial hub of Oman.
“Sohar is the perfect addition to our portfolio of great destinations for international guests, especially business travellers,” said Francois Galoisy, general manager of Radisson Blu, Sohar.
The hotel features meeting facilities for up to 80 delegates, as well as a sizeable ballroom, which can be split into three separate halls that could comfortably accommodate 700 guests. The hall can also be converted into an exhibition hall with a dedicated wide entrance, which provides direct access from the car park.
There are also seven conference rooms equipped with the latest in telecommunication technologies.
Premium suites
The hotel provides 178 rooms in which 162 are single and double bed rooms, 15 are premium suites and one premium king suite, which is equipped with two bedrooms, a living room and a dining room among many other features.
A gym, swimming pools for both children and adults and tennis courts are among the many features the hotel has to offer.
With regards to food and beverages, guests can enjoy the hotel’s signature restaurant Amaranthai, which serves Thai and Chinese food, for those who enjoy classical Arabic music, there is an Arab themed roof top bar, Al Khaimah where guests can unwind with a casual drink and smoke shisha on the terrace. Just across the shisha terrace is the hotel’s Aqua Bar.
The base price for rooms at Radisson Blu, Sohar starts from OMR50 per night, including breakfast.
